Application Areas

Ceilings

The primary use for POP — creates flat, smooth, paint-ready ceiling surfaces in homes, offices, and commercial spaces.

False Ceilings

Ideal for constructing false ceiling panels, coffers, and recessed lighting frames with precision.

Interior Walls

Applied as a finish coat on internal walls for a smooth, bright surface ready for emulsion paint.

Decorative Cornices

Shape into wall and ceiling cornices, borders, and architectural details at the junction of wall and ceiling.

Ceiling Roses

Cast into decorative ceiling medallions and light fittings for period-style interior décor.

Repair & Patching

Excellent for patching cracks, holes, and surface defects on existing ceilings and interior walls.

How to Apply Plaster of Paris

01

Prepare the Surface

Surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, loose particles, and grease. For existing ceilings, repair major cracks with appropriate filler before applying POP.

02

Mix the Plaster

Sift POP powder into clean water (not water into powder). Mix quickly to a smooth, lump-free, creamy consistency. Use within the setting time — do not remix or add water to setting plaster.

03

Apply to Surface

Apply a first coat of 6–8 mm thickness using a steel float. Scratch the surface before the first coat sets to provide a key for the second coat.

04

Finish Coat

Apply a thin finish coat once the first coat has set. Trowel to a smooth surface. After full drying (24–48 hours), sand lightly and apply ceiling paint.

Note: Plaster of Paris is for interior use only. It is not suitable for exterior surfaces, damp locations, or areas subject to direct water contact. Use only clean water for mixing — contaminated water affects setting time and strength.

Plaster of Paris FAQ

Can I use Plaster of Paris on exterior walls?
No. Plaster of Paris is designed for interior use only. It is not moisture-resistant and will deteriorate on exterior or damp surfaces. For exterior finishes, use Ambhuti Wall Putty or consult our technical team.
How soon can I paint after applying Plaster of Paris?
Allow the POP surface to dry completely — a minimum of 24 to 48 hours depending on thickness and ambient humidity — before applying primer or paint. Do not rush this stage or the paint may peel.
Can I use POP for false ceiling work?
Yes. Ambhuti Plaster of Paris is well-suited for false ceiling construction, including panels, coffers, and light bays. Its workable consistency and smooth finish make it a preferred choice for false ceiling contractors.
What water-to-powder ratio should I use?
Add POP powder to water gradually while stirring — not the reverse. The general guideline is a creamy, lump-free consistency. For exact mix ratios specific to your application, contact our team for technical guidance.
